Boinne
LiveA website exploring the history of the River Boyne and the rich heritage of the surrounding area.
Boinne is a heritage project centred on the River Boyne and the history, landscape, and cultural memory that surrounds it. It sits in the same wider orbit as Bernard’s place-based work on Meath and the Boyne Valley.
Goal
The goal is to make the story of the River Boyne more accessible and more coherent for people who want to explore the region. Rather than focusing on a single monument, Boinne can hold a broader narrative that stretches across archaeology, geography, mythology, and history.
Purpose
Its purpose is to create a digital resource with a strong sense of place. The site gives Bernard a way to bring together local interest, research, and web publishing into something that can be both informative and quietly distinctive.
How It’s Doing
Boinne looks like an active project with a compelling subject and plenty of room to deepen over time. The concept is strong because the material itself is rich and specific, which gives the site a natural identity. Qualitatively, it feels like a meaningful long-term heritage project that can continue to grow as more material is added.
